Back in Black

I’m not really wearing black right now, just in an AC/DC sort of mood and HEY I’m back to blogging. So, I know I am an awful blogger and have been absent from the blogosphere for quite some time. I have made the decision to change all of that. I think partly why I am not the most dedicated blogger is because I have always had a bit of stage fright, I call it, when it comes to my own work. I am not the best self-promoter, this I am aware of. I know I can and do produce good work, but it’s like a singer or performer who has all the confidence in themselves until it is time to present it to the world.

It’s a bit odd, but I am an introverted person and expressing myself through other means other than my own raw words has always been the best bet for me to truly express myself. When my good friend, Katrina told me to start blogging the cultural posts I put on facebook or twitter or just email to her and my other friends, I thought ‘ya, what a snazzy idea.’ That way people who come to my blog can see what makes me tick and what inspires me to evolve. There is so much more to my personality than photography and journalism. A person’s likes and dislikes, quirks, inspirations, and opinions among other things compile a person’s personality. A lot of times an individual can not express everything they are interested in their own words. A lot of times others can express it so much better for them. This is what I have decided to evolve this blog into, a compilation of posts that consist of things that inspire me, people who said it better than I ever could, and don’t you worry, even original work by the one and only allison ziemba (me, in case you didn’t know). So here goes nothin’…

I have been on a major A Take Away Show binge lately.. It happens every few months when I need to hear something raw and familiar. My all-time favorite take away shows:

1. Bon Iver-Skinny Love

ok, I’ll admit it, this one has forced me to tears. It has a certain nostalgia and connection for me and I love it for that.

2. Bon Iver-For Emma, Forever Ago

The apartment building entryway is my favorite part of this one.

3. Local Natives-Who Knows Who Cares

Love that each person is stationed throughout the mall and are added on-the-go.

4. Arcade Fire-Neon Bible/Wake Up

They start playing in the elevator around 3:40. Ripping a magazine for that sound. GENIUS. That’s all you can really say about that.

5. The National-Start A War

I couldn’t find its original path through La Blogotheque but its still just as lovely.

6. Lykke Li-Dance, Dance, Dance

My favorite line: ‘My hips they lie cause in reality I’m shy, shy, shy’

7. And I will leave you with a discovery one I just found: Bomba Estereo
