I am working at the Missourian this fall as a staff photographer. It’s a class, but it feels and is treated like an internship.. which is a great experience, but also very time consuming and at times stressful. Here are a some published and outtakes from my assignments.
Today I had a realization that this is a blog, and being a journalist is a whole lot about trial and error and improving from mistakes, so I am going to write a little about what I learned about different assignments, working at the Missourian, etc.
First Missourian photo assignment: Summerfest
Vox turned my summerfest photos into a slideshow! Exciting for my first assignment. It was exhausting to cover 3 bands, but my adrenaline was going and I couldn’t have asked for more out of my first assignment. Things learned: shoot more selectively (going through 500+ photos on a Friday night is not too fun) and avoid the middle aged men hitting on you.
